Arkansas Hot Fishing Spots

Tuesday, June 29th, 2010

Arkansas offers anglers an opportunity of a lifetime fly fishing in waters that managed to guarantee the population of large trout and other species. You may be an expert angler and know all the hot spots for fly fishing or you may be a novice new to the area and need some guidance, which is plentiful and forth coming. Pick up your free copy of the Fishing Season Information & Wildlife Property Discovery booklet, which is available with any of the wildlife offices.

The perfect spot to fly fish is the White River. The inconsistencies in the water make it shallow enough to actually see the trout swim under you or see it swim bank to bank in the cool water the next. Trout love this kind of environment. The White River is also quite famous for fly fishing bream and bass. The Little Red River is noted as one of Arkansas’ world famous tail water trout streams. It’s known for the great fly-fishing opportunities it offers. Rainbow trout are stocked here by the thousands annually and periodic releases of brown trout have produced an excellent fishing.

The lake supports small mouth, largemouth, Kentucky, and white bass as well as trout, crappie, catfish, walleye, and pan fish in abundance. In close competition, offering as much variety, Greers Ferry Lake is also worth mentioning for its wide variety of bass, walleye, crappie and bream; the lake is the home of the World Walleye Classic and attracts hundreds of expert walleye anglers every year. Arkansas River traverses the state from west to east, creating the 50-mile-long Lake Dardanelle giving the opportunity of superior angling for a variety of bass and catfish species as well as crappie.

The beautiful natural beauty of the fishing spots of Arkansas attracts anglers from the world over but with the distractions of the natural environment not withstanding anglers are more than able to hook species like the Largemouth Bass Trout, Tiger Muskies and Bluegill.

The other species of fish that are found in Arkansas in abundance are Brown Trout, Walleye, Wipers, Yellow Perch, Crappie Smallmouth Bass and Pumpkinseed. Flies usually work best during late July, August and September there is little or no reason for you not to set out on a fishing trip at any time of the year for a fly fishing experience that only Arkansas can provide.
