If you love the outdoors, then whitewater river rafting is definitely something you’ll want to explore since nothing lets you experience the outdoors like an Arkansas River rafting trip. And if you’ve never been on a whitewater rafting trip, then there are some secrets you’ll definitely want to know before you go.

1. Whitewater rafting the Arkansas River isn’t just for the adventurous and skilled. There are Class I beginner sections that are perfect to take the entire family on, including kids as young as seven years old.

2. While going on an adventure is why many people choose rafting, the real secret is that there are spectacular scenic views of the Rocky Mountains, wonderful foliage to see and even lots of wildlife of all kinds to be seen on both banks of the Arkansas River.

3. Going on a short rafting trip down the Arkansas River may seem like the only way to go, but there are varying excursions available from the 1/3 day Granite Gorge trip all the way through a full day trip through Brown’s Canyon.

4. There are even 3 day trips available that gives you the full experience. Starting off on an intermediate (Class III and IV) course on the first couple of days and building up to an advanced (Class IV and Class V) mind blowing trip on the last.

5. Since this is Colorado, instead of staying in a chain hotel, there are cabins available and even camping areas. That’ll round out your vacation perfectly.

Rafting vacations will give you experiences you won’t be able to get any other way. Not only will you see wonderful scenery and wildlife, but the adrenaline rush you get when shooting whitewater rapids is unlike anything you’ll have ever experienced before. Take a look at all the great Arkansas River rafting trips available and you’ll be amazed at just how much there is to do.

The Commissioner of State Lands Web site has all of the required information for buying state-owned tax deeds in Arkansas. A schedule of tax deed sales throughout the state and the inventory of properties are published on the Web site. The tax delinquent property sales list contains the name of the property owner, the legal description of the property, the parcel number, the taxes due on the property, and the minimum bid that is required to purchase the tax deed. It is certainly advisable to do the proper research on a property before committing to make a purchase. The things that you will want to know about the property include the assessed and market value of the property, the location and size of the property, any liens, mortgages or other assessments on the property for which the deed holder may be held liable. The Arkansas county Web sites and numerous other online real estate Web sites are good places to assist you in your research.

Interested investors must pre-register if they wish to attend a tax deed sale. The tax deed sale is competitive, meaning that the investor willing to pay the highest amount for a property will win the tax deed. Bidders also have the option to mail in their bid to the office of the Commissioner of State Lands. In most cases, bids must be received no later than seven days prior to the date of sale. For lands that do not sell for the minimum bid amount, either by mail or at the sale, the Commissioner may negotiate a sale. All negotiated sales must have the approval of the Arkansas Attorney General.

For all sales, the first $100 is due in the form of cash, money order, or cashier’s check. The remaining amount may be paid by personal check, but the the deed will not be issued until that check clears. Upon payment of the full price owed, the purchaser will receive a certificate of purchase from the Commissioner of State Lands. It is important to note that the former property owner is given 30 days from the date of the tax deed purchase to redeem the property. If redemption by the former property owner does occur, the tax deed purchaser receives a full refund. If redemption does not occur, the purchaser will receive a limited warranty deed. If you are interested in buying Arkansas tax deeds, you definitely need to visit the Commissioner of State Lands Web site. Be sure to read the Buyers Guide and the Laws Governing the Sale of Tax Delinquent Lands.

If you are planning a trip or even just curious, here are some fun facts about the great state of Arkansas. The state bird is the Mocking-bird. Named for the habit of mimicking the sounds of other birds and also insects, their loud, rapid noises are easily recognized. Pale grey and white in color, this long tailed bird is a delight to many bird watchers. The states economy thrives on Agriculture with the production of poultry, eggs, soybeans, cotton, rice, hogs and milk. In the Industrial field, food processing, electric equipment, machinery and paper products are a major aspect.

Twenty-five white stars around the diamond signify that Arkansas was the twenty-fifth state to join the Union. Four stars surround the word Arkansas in the center of the flag. The top star recognizes Arkansas as a Confederate State during the civil War. The other three stars represent Spain, France and the United States as countries that had rule over the land. The Apple Blossom is the state flower. At one point in time, Arkansas was a major apple producing state. A type of Evergreen tree known as the Loblolly pine is recognized as the state tree of Arkansas. Beauty abounds in Arkansa s. With over 600,000 acres of lakes and 9,700 miles of streams and rivers, it’s no wonder that visitors flock to this state. National parks, over two million acres of forest lands make this scenic state a beautiful place to visit.

The Quapaw Quarter features some of Little Rock’s oldest structures including Victorian and antebellum homes & churches If that’s not enough beauty, culture and history then maybe Arkansas is not the state for you. If it is then read on.

Business management has always been known to be a science that involved the flourish of an artist and are an essential ingredient for a businessman. The art of business networking includes your simple, effective and professional outlook on how you conduct your business with prospects. Some tips come in useful when one is learning the steps to improve business networking skills. Imagine yourself attending an important business conference. In such cases, you must prepare your agenda in advance. There are events that include starters and drinks; however you can’t expect all events to match that standard. Make sure you have had a meal to keep you energized and active and not be agonized by hunger pangs when making new business acquaintances.

Some events keep a list of attendants. Get hold of the list so that you know beforehand whom you\’d like to connect with. Then make it a point to seek out those you are most interested in getting to know. Be sure to have a conversation started when meeting them that is polite and respectful. Business networking is all about portraying a charming and professional side of your character and as such, business meetings demand proper attire. At the conference, appear polished to make a positive impact. Wear a dark colored blazer since it will mean more places for pens, cards, etc. A name badge may also be a good idea. Plan to reach the event a few minutes early so that you can gauge the kind of people around.

While honing your business networking skills, make sure you are carrying your business cards to the networking event. Some businessmen get separate cards printed specially for such events that provide the prospect with enough but not too much information. Another great tactic is to bring more than one pen to the event. It is a wonderful way to say hello to someone by lending them a much needed a pen. Break ice with strangers you meet at the business networking event with a short and casual opening statement. Focus on connecting to new contacts for business relationships and be sure to practice good networking skills so that you will remember them and they will remember you.

You can legally hunt bears in Arkansas as long as you follow the rules and regulations set forth by that state. This guide was created in 2010 to help educate hunters on the rules regarding bear hunting in Arkansas. We hope this will make sense of some of the regulation wording that too many can seem impossible to understand. You must have a commission issued bear tag and a bear permit. There is a penalty of $100 to $1000 for failing to obtain the proper permit and bear tag required by Arkansas law. You can obtain these online at the Arkansas Game & Fish Commission website.

There are restrictions on the type of devices to be used to kill bears while hunting them. This includes compliance with Commission Code 06.02, 08.04, 08.06 & 07.02. You can look these codes up on their website; these are rifle and crossbow laws that aren’t in the main scope of this article, further more you cannot use shotguns that are 20 gauge or larger using only rifled slugs. The penalty for failing to comply is $100 to $1000 and doesn’t include the penalties for violating any state gun laws.

You are required to wear a specific amount of safety orange on your body. This must be worn above the waist line and consist of the color range 595nm to 605nm (Hunter Orange) or florescent chartreuse within the color range of 55nm to 565nm (Hunter Safety Green). You must have a total of at least 400 square inches of the mentioned colors and a florescent blaze orange or florescent chartreuse head garment must be visibly worn on the head. They penalty ranges from $50 to $1000 for failing to comply and this also can result in serious injury or death.

It’s illegal to use bear baiting methods at any time for the sole purchase of luring or attracting bears. However, on private lands in bear zones 1, 2, 5 and 5A it is allowed 30 days before opening day. The penalty is $100 to $1000 for failure to comply. You are not allowed to shoot a bear inside of its den, along with disturbing a bear to make it leave its den to be shot. Not only is there a fine of $500 to $1000 you can also spend up to 10 days in jail and pay restitution.

In 2010, the United States Mint introduced a new coin, designed to commemorate the springs in Arkansas. This hot springs quarter was the first in a set of 56 coins specially designed to celebrate and educate about the vast number of natural marvels throughout the United States and territories. There’s some debate as to what actually even constitutes such a spring. One can find definitions as diverse as “any natural discharge of groundwater with higher than normal temperatures” to “a spring with water temperatures above 50 degrees Celcius.” Whatever the exact definition you subscribe to, however, two facts stand out: the springs are created when water is heated by geothermal energy, and a hot springs quarter could put a little bit of knowledge about them in your pocket.

The particular body of water this hot springs quarter is celebrating is in Arkansas, where about a million gallons of 137 degree water flows every day. This flow is unimpeded by changes in precipitation, as studies by the National Park Service indicate that water doesn’t reach the surface for some 6,000 years. The rainwater whence the spring flows filters very slowly through the earth’s surface and to superheated areas deep in its crust; it isn’t until it reaches this area that it gushes forth to the surface. While the surrounding city bills itself as “the countries first resort”, relatively few people are familiar with the majesty of the city’s 47 natural hot springs. This quarter should serve to expose many more people to the grandeur that is lurking in our own backyard.

There is a multitude of prospects for Arkansas bird watching. There are over 400 documented species of birds in the areas that surround the Ozark Mountains. In addition to the birds, there is also a large variety of butterfly species that inhabit the state, creating additional opportunities for premium wildlife viewing.

The first, and probably the most practical reason is that it is affordable. Since Arkansas is centrally located within the United States, it is, with a few exceptions, just about a day’s drive from anywhere in the country. This kind of access, coupled with the low cost of living in the area, makes a trip affordable. If you are coming from out of state or from the East or West coast, you will be delighted at the hospitable nature of the people who call the state of Arkansas home.

Another reason to consider Arkansas as your next flying animal watching destination is the availability of local resources. A flying animal watching club is easily found and there are Audubon societies in the area, and most are ready and willing to provide information that will allow visitors to capitalize on all of the bird watching opportunities that an area has to offer. If you are serious about heading to Arkansas to do some bird watching, make sure you check out birding Arkansas site. Here you will find a number of resources and links that will help you plan your trip.

The Ivory Billed Woodpecker recently made headlines and put Arkansas bird watching at the forefront of the North American birding community. This flying animal, which was thought to be extinct, was seen in the swamps of Arkansas. This discovery has led to a relative tourism boom in the small towns that surround the native habitat of the woodpecker. The economic boost that these additional tourists has provided is being used to further protect the habitat.

Bull Shoals State Park, DeGray Lake Resort State Park, and Devil’s Den State Park each host bird watching festivals or events at different times of the year. These organized festivals and events allow bird watching enthusiasts from around the country to come together and share information and to enjoy the company of folks who share similar passions. Local bird watching club involvement is very active in supporting these events.
